Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

This book is about a senior names Brittany Ellis who, at school, is "perfect." She keeps this image because she doesn't want anyone to know about how her life is at home with her dad that's never there, a demanding mom, and a mentally challenged sister who needs a lot of her attention.
On the first day of school during Chemistry, her teacher partners her up with Alex Fuentes, a gang member and seen as the "tough guy." Except no one knows that he only joined in order to protect his family after his father died.
While they work on their chemistry project, they learn things about each other that nobody knows about. They begin to fall for each other, though they pretend not to notice. Although they are different, they are also similar. One's rich, one's poor, but both have an image to protect. They just have to figure out what's more important: Their love for one another, or the person they pretend to be.
I would recommend this book for girls because there is a lot of romance in it.
