Halley Cooper and Scarlett Thomas have been best friends since they were little. They just finished their sophomore year in high school and are working at a grocery store called Milton's. While working there, they meet a new employee, Michael Sherwood. Michael and Scarlett start going out soon after they meet. Two weeks before school begins Michael gets into a motorcycle accident and is killed. His family and friends are devastated, especially Scarlett. Michael's family ends up moving to Florida. A couple weeks after the funeral, Scarlett finds out that she is carrying Michael's baby. While this is going on, Halley starts dating Michael's best friend Macon. Macon isn't the greatest guy. He skips school a lot and doesn't tell Halley where he goes half the time. Scarlett doesn't like Macon and her and Halley start to fight and their friendship starts to crumble. Scarlett decides that she is going to keep the baby, but she had to decide if she wants to keep the baby or give it up for adoption.
